Big Neighborhood , “11:11”
Origin 82467
“...double times a pace or two in contrapuntal harmony with a groove Messianic! ”
Dick Crockett

Big Neighborhood continues to explore their unique blend of genre, texture & dynamics with this specially priced 2-CD set of all original music. Although thoroughly steeped in the jazz tradition, Big Neighborhood's compositions and improvising gives them a voice of their own that rewards casual and careful listeners alike.

Big Neighborhood is a thoroughly original band that is engaging and creative, pushing the listener beyond the confines of tradition. Firmly rooted in improvisational modern jazz, the band also explores territories touched on by Pat Metheny and John Scofield. The band is led by guitarist David White who spent 18 years in New York and Boston before relocating to Seattle where the group is based. "...The interplay of the musicians and the fire with which they play is beyond categorization. This is music. It transcends labels and fashion..." Cadence.

All About Jazz (Dan McClenaghan)
The liner note explanation of the title of Big Neighborhood's second CD release, penned by the group's guitarist/leader, David White, sounds sort of loopy and New Age weird. White claims that ìin some circles 11:11 is a wake-up code as seen on digital clocks designed to reach the subconscious mind and trigger genetically encoded memories showing us...
Bopndicks 20 Picks Nov 2006 (Dick Crockett)
A quartet of alto saxophone, guitar, bass and drum. Simple yet more complex for this band plays big. Chris Fagan 's saxophone sings like a Paul Desmond in Toronto, a clear fall evening on lake Ontario. Then there's Dave White's acoustic guitar riffs like Charlie Christian in odd characters as the rhythmic double times a pace or two in contrapun...
All Music Guide (Scott Yanow)
The co-op quartet Big Neighborhood performs catchy originals that stretch the modern mainstream of jazz. A particularly tight unit that has each of the four musicians thinking in similar directions, Big Neighborhood features concise solos, a colorful group sound, some tricky time signatures, and distinctive voices in altoist Chris Fagan and guitari...
