Seattle drummer, Steve Korn, is a musician's drummer. Always making the musical content and quality his first priority, Steve's versatile drumming and overall musicianship has made him an integral part of the Seattle jazz scene. Audiences across the United States, Europe and Russia have heralded his work, hearing him on several recent tours and recordings.

Steve's first CD as a leader, Here and Now, was released in 1999, his second, Pride and Joy, is currently being heard by listeners around the globe. Both were released by Origin records and have received rave reviews nationally and Earshot Magazine nominations for Best Northwest Jazz recordings. Steve won the Earshot Golden Ear Award for Northwest Emerging Artist for the year 2000.

As one of Seattle's busiest players, Steve is constantly in demand, leading his own group and performing with the areas top players. In addition to appearing in clubs, Steve's quintet has also been featured at the Earshot Jazz Festival, and the University of Washington Jazz Artist Series. When not leading his own group, Steve regularly works with the Marc Seales Quintet and Trio, the Jim Knapp Quintet, Mark Taylor Group, Cynthia Mullis Quartet and Jay Clayton Project in addition to freelancing with many of Seattle's finest including; Greta Matassa, Jay Thomas, Dave Peck, Floyd Standifer, Dave Peterson, and Jeff Johnson among others. Steve has also been fortunate to share the stage with many jazz greats including; Jon Faddis, Julian Priestser, Larry Coryell, Pete Christlieb, Hal Galper, Chuck Israels, James Williams, George Cables, Jessica Williams, Allen Vizzutti, Darrell Grant and Karrin Allyson.

A published author and composer, Steve has written one book in addition to articles for Down Beat, Percussive Notes, and Modern Drummer magazines. Steve has also conrtibuted transcriptions to two books published by tthe Hal Leonard Corporation, The Jack DeJohnette Collection and Drum Standards. Steve holds a Master's Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Washington and is an active educator participating in music camps, festivals and clinics throughout the year.
